Church Multiplication

Tim Keller, pastor, theologian and Christian apologist, in Why Plant Churches states, “The vigorous, continual planting of new congregations is the single most crucial strategy for 1) the numerical growth of the body of Christ in any city, and 2) the continual corporate renewal and revival of the existing churches in a city. Nothing else...will have the consistent impact of dynamic, extensive church planting.”

Support EFCA church multiplication.

Your support will open doors for God to transform the lives of thousands of people with the life-changing power of the gospel.

The Problem

By 2050, it is estimated that 42 million youth raised in Christian homes will disaffiliate from Christianity—more than 1.4 million per year. In that same time frame, the Christian population in the U.S. is projected to drop from 73 percent to 54 percent.

The Solution

Plant new God-glorifying, Jesus-following, biblically grounded churches.

Research tells us new churches tend to reach younger generations, attract new residents and more readily engage in social, cultural and ethnic diversity. Multiple denominational studies have shown 60 to 80 percent of church plant members come from a previously unaffiliated church background whereas established churches have 80 to 90 percent of new members come from another congregation.

In other words, new churches reach new people.

We also believe one of the best possible ways to strengthen and revitalize existing churches is to have them be a part of planting a new church. Tim Keller puts it this way: “All in all, church planting helps an existing church best when the new congregation is voluntarily birthed by an older mother congregation...Our attitude to new church development is a test of whether our mindset is geared to our own institutional turf, or to the overall health and prosperity of the kingdom of God in the city.”

“I have witnessed firsthand God’s faithfulness and fruitfulness as He built our church plant into a fellowship of disciples and disciplemakers of Jesus Christ. I thank God for those who initially supported our ministry and take great joy in knowing the Lord did this through all of us working together.”

The Plan

We have assembled a team of pastors and leaders who are passionate to see gospel-minded churches established where there is no hope of Christ present. Each member of our church planting network has a calling on their lives to multiply churches. Working in concert with our districts, your gift serves as a catalyst to help identify, raise up, train, launch and support church planters across the EFCA.

The Investment Opportunity

Our strategic plan involves an orchestrated partnership with our districts and existing churches to grow by five percent over the next ten years. The anticipated timeline to allow a new church to reach a point of financial viability is between 24-30 months.

Our church planting efforts are a joint venture between the planting church, local district, church planter and donors like you. Our request is that you would consider supporting the planting of one or more churches for the two years we anticipate it will take to achieve viability.

We invite you to consider being a catalyst in planting one or more scripture-centered churches. Your support will open doors for God to transform the lives of thousands of people with the life-changing power of the gospel. New churches reach new people.
